Living in Florida, cold water is not readily available in our pools and open water during our summer months. Sure, we have natural springs throughout our state, but even there the water temperature is a more comfortable 72 degrees. Quick adjustments needed to be made during our training days here in the Netherlands, with water temperatures holding in the low to mid 60’s. As we all know, swimming is both a physically and mentally challenging sport. While each member of Team USA has put in the work with his/her own club team leading up to this trip, none of us realized the challenges we’d have to endure with the unfamiliar conditions.
