Maarten van der Weijden’s 24-Hour Swim through Amsterdam Canals

In August 2025, 10k Olympic Open Water champion and leukemia survivor Maarten van der Weijden once again pushed the limits of endurance and purpose, this time swimming for 24 continuous hours through the canals of Amsterdam.

Known worldwide for his epic Elfstedentocht charity swims in the Netherlands, Maarten has turned his remarkable athletic career into a platform for raising millions for cancer research.
