Since 2010 Curacao is an independent country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands. It’s located in the Southern part of the Caribbean in between the islands Aruba and Bonaire. Although the location is perfectly for Open Water swimming until recently there wasn’t much more than an annual “Swim for the Roses” charity swim organized.
On Saturday the 9th of May the ‘Federation Aquatiko Korsou’(FAK) organized an official international 5K in the Bay of Porto Marie. Although the weather has been rough all week, with wind forces up to 30kts, the bay provided enough shelter to continue the race. A 1K racetrack was setup.

Sunday, October 5th, the Swim to Klein Bonaire will be taking place again!
General
The Klein Bonaire Swim is the yearly start of the Regatta week.
This swim competition is being organized by Jong Bonaire and Evy Witlox is our club coordinator for this event.

The 2015 Special Olympics World Summer Games open on 25 July 2015 in Los Angeles, California. The 2015 Games will feature competitions in aquatics including openwater swimming, gymnastics, track and field, basketball, football (soccer) and many other summer sports involving 7,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities from around the world.

Age Groups are:
a) Men: Youth: 15-16 years; Junior: 17-18 years;
b) Women: Youth: 15-16 years; Junior: 17-18 years.
Events are:
a) Individual Youth (men and women): 5 km;
b) Individual Junior (men and women): 7,5 km;
c) Team Event (youth/junior combined): 3 km Time Trial.
A team shall consist of three (3) swimmers, either one (1) man and two (2) women,
or two (2) men and one (1) woman. The swimmers can be of either youth or junior age category.

Van vrijdag 28 t/m zondag 30 juni 2013 werd in Duisburg de Open Duitse Kampioenschappen open water gezwommen.
Marcel Schouten, Dèlenn van Oostrom en Leonie van Noort waren hierbij ook aanwezig.
Vrijdag begon Leonie met de 5 km. De dames gingen erg hard van start, waarbij Leonie net niet kon aanhaken bij de kopgroep. Ze heeft de rest van de race samen met de uiteindelijke nummer in 5 gezwommen. Leonie wist bij de finish het meisje mooi er uit te sprinten.

Op 14 juli vindt de Big Jump plaats. Tijdens dit jaarlijkse evenement springen mensen overal in Europa in meren, rivieren en kanalen. Zij vragen hiermee aandacht voor het belang van schoon drinkwater.
