Alghero, Italy is named the European Aquatics Open Water Swimming Championships host for 2027. The Sardinian city is set to welcome the continent’s top open water swimmers during the last week of May next year.

IISA Press Release 

The International Ice Swimming Association (IISA) today concludes the 2nd European Open Ice Swimming Championships, held in Molveno, Italy, 3 – 7 February 2026. The Championships brought together 512 qualified athletes from 32 nations in competition across a full programme of sprint and middle-distance pool events under officially sanctioned ice swimming conditions (water temperatures near freezing).

Afstanden:

• 16 en 17 jaar 7,5 km
• 18 en 19 jaar 10 km
• 16 jaar 4 x 1250m 2 heren & 2 dames
• 19 jaar en jonger 4 x 1250m 2 heren & 2 dames

Kwalificatie:

European Aquatics is delighted to announce the schedule and locations for the 2025 European Aquatics Open Water Cup, a highlight of the marathon swimming calendar. The events will take place across five stunning venues, offering diverse and challenging conditions for Europe’s top athletes. The series begins on 3rd May 2025 in Protaras, Cyprus, before heading to Setubal, Portugal, on 22nd June. The third leg follows in Paris, France on 26th July, before continuing to Barcelona, Spain on 20th September and concluding in Razanac, Croatia, on 27th September – creating a fascinating finale with two rounds in as many weeks.
